NOTES FROM THE OWNER:
Did you know that most insurance only pays for Physical Therapy to get you back to 80% of your normal range of motion? Then the rest is up to you! If you feel you still need guidance, Pilates for Orthopedic Post-Rehabilitation may be right for you. Rather than looking at a single issue, I see how your whole body functions, perform a full postural analysis and strength assessment, and custom design a specific program just for you.
My Personal Experience:
After years of doing pilates for my personal post-rehab in San Francisco, CA while a professional ballet dancer, I now pass my knowledge on to you. Physical therapy can be to aggressive or too timid, depending on the issues you have. Usually that is because the therapist doesn't have any personal experience with rehabilitation, and most don't take a whole body approach to their treatment. Pilates does, and I can tell if you are working correctly or not just from looking at your body when you move.
Finding Your "Zero Point"
I work hard to find the level you are able to work at, what I call your "zero point". In our initial consultation and lesson, I do exercise testing and muscle strength tests to determine your current strength levels. From there, I take you through a workout that is designed specifically for you and your issues, at a level you are comfortable with, be it easy or challenging. Either way, I want to see you get better, not get re-injured, and more, I want you to understand the why of what you are doing.
Structured Progression:
It takes six weeks for your muscles to come back "online" if you've been injured or recovering from surgery. It takes 12 weeks for you to develop new muscle fiber. I put together a structured program that works at sub-maximal levels, so you won't get re-injured, and that progresses you gradually. In 12 weeks you will be significantly on your way to returning to your old life. I guarantee it.
It's About Trust:
If you don't have confidence in the person you're working with to help you, you'll never get better. I understand that feeling all too well. That's why you are completely involved in the process of getting back in shape in a way you have never been before.
