Joseph Pilates didn't want everyone to be doing private sessions all the time. He wanted you to learn how to do the exercises yourself, and then to do then on your own. Pilates reformer classes are big right now, but you can't always be sure you will get a spot, or if there is a sub for your favorite teacher, or if they will work with your specific injuries.
At Pilates on Hudson, we put you in charge with Self-practice sessions. If you have done Pilates with an instructor for at least 6 months, are an instructor or instructor in training, you are able to come and practice your exercises on your own, just like you would at a gym.
How it works:
If you have already been working out at Pilates on Hudson, we will put together a chart of the exercises that you have been taught and that are appropriate to your specific body and issues. Advancement will be at the discretion of the studio owner.
If you have practiced Pilates elsewhere,
1. You must have verifiable proof that you have been doing Pilates with a trainer or instructor for at least 6 months.
2. You must demonstrate full knowledge of the exercises you are doing as part of your routine.
3. You can only do the exercises that have been approved for your level.
All self-practice clients have to attend a safety session on how to work the equipment prior to doing any self-practice sessions. Check the online scheduling calendar for dates and times.
