About The Studio
At Pilates on Hudson, my goal is to change the way you think about exercise. Imagine walking into a beautiful light filled loft with soaring ceilings, glorious windows, and total privacy for your workout. No blaring music, no glaring televisions, just the calm, soothing atmosphere of the 1100 sq.ft.studio. I have been doing pilates for over 20 years, first as a professional ballet dancer and now as a Certified Stott Pilates Instructor and A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer. Whether you want to get in better shape, lose weight, or need focused instruction for a specific issue, I will give you a total body workout that is specially tailored to meet your needs. I have experience working with clients who have osteoporsis, scoliosis, arthritis, low back pain, pre-natal and post-partum, orthopedic issues, sports injuries and more.
I promise you won't get hurt!
The Benefits
Exercise doesn't have to be painful or boring. It can be fun and intellectually stimulating while educating you about your body. I bring this philosophy to my training everyday at Pilates on Hudson. Coming from a background as a professional ballet dancer, I have seen firsthand how it has remarkably changed my body. It was instrumental in getting me back onstage following injuries, and now that I am retired, it keeps me active in spite of numerous lingering dance injuries.
Pilates is great for:
-
Relief of Low Back Pain
-
Returning the abs to Pre-pregnancy shape
-
Greater Strength and Flexibility of the core and back muscles
-
Improved Posture, Balance and Core strength
-
Relief of Arthritis pain
-
Improved Bone Density
-
Increased Lung Capacity and Improved Circulation
-
Better muscular coordination and mental focus
The Owner
As a professional ballet dancer, Marilyn K. Miller first did Pilates at the Center for Dance Medicine at St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco. Supervised by a team of Orthopedic surgeons, dance podiatrists and physical therapists, her pilates instructors were instrumental in getting her back onstage as quickly as possible. Forever in their debt, Marilyn decided to open her own studio at the conclusion of her professional dance career. Having received her Personal Trainer Certification from the American Council on Exercise in 2000, and her Stott Pilates Full Instructor Certification in 2003, Marilyn now brings her years of personal experience to you.
